Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 21, 2026
At Sheriff, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we handle your data, specifically
regarding Screen Time and usage activity.
1. Screen Time Data
Sheriff uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to function. Here is how this
data is handled:
- Local Processing: Your detailed app usage history (which apps you open, for how
long, and when) is processed locally on your device to calculate your "Discipline
Score".
- No Reporting of Specific Activity: We do NOT upload your detailed browsing history
or app usage logs to our servers. We do not know specifically which apps you used, only the
aggregate categories needed to calculate your score.
- Shared Data: The only data shared with friends is your Discipline
Score (a number), your Rank, and generic activity summaries (e.g., "Spent 2h on Social
Media") if you opt-in.
2. Data Collection
We collect the following personal information:
- Account Information: Username, display name, and phone number (for authentication).
- Contacts: If you use the "Find Friends" feature, we access your contacts solely to
match you with existing users. Your contact list is not stored permanently on our servers.
3. No Data Selling
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information or screen time data to others.
4. Security
We implement security measures designed to protect your data. However, no security system is impenetrable
and we cannot guarantee the security of our systems.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new
Privacy Policy on this page.
